Profile

I have been embroidering since about 6 years of age, mostly on table cloths and mats given to me for Christmas to keep me occupied during the long school holidays.  I still have a few but they were worked with 6 strands of stranded cotton, they are terrible but not bad for my age at the time.

Since then I have become an experienced embroiderer, tutor, judge, assessor and lecturer, and have taught throughout Australia and New Zealand for Embroiderers' Guilds, Lace Guilds and commercial enterprises. What and where I have studied is listed under "training". Some time ago I published a book on Schwalm embroidery, and have had articles published in Inspirations Magazine and Embroidery & Cross Stitch Magazine, primarily the "Threads of the Past" articles and accompanying projects.

I teach white work, counted techniques and needlelace (Punto in Aria and Reticella), specific styles include Casalguidi, cutwork, Broderie Anglaise and pulled fabric. Also lesser known forms of embroidery such as Tuscan embroidery, Punto Antico, Punto Tagliato, Fisherton-de-la-Mere, Lefkara Lace, Sicilian Cut and Drawn embroidery (Punto Tirato). Constantly researching and developing classes to ensure the continuity of almost forgotten techniques and styles of embroidery keeps me very busy.

I have been a member of The Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia since 1981 and was awarded Life Membership in July 2012.  I am also a member of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Lace Guild and a member of OIDFA (International bobbin and needle lace organisation).

What style of embroidery/lace do I like the most?  Whatever I am currently working on!!!!
